"With no financial business relationships and no political friends in my camp to color my perspective, I am simply a life-long Sonoma County resident who loves Santa Rosa. I'm grateful to be serving my community, long to help to bring more honesty and accountability to Santa Rosa politics and am confident that I will be a voice of reason, logic and truth on Santa Rosa's City Council. I'm committed to help restore Sonoma County politically to service of the people, by the people and for the people - to all people. I'm just a person who cares enough to get involved. I am we, the people."

Teaching men how to become principled men of recovery has honed Don's personal walk, as well. Rigorous honesty, compassion, tolerance for others and self-discipline are just a few of the Spiritual principles Don teaches men to put into practice in their lives which serve to bring reason, logic and truth back to the forefront of even the most dysfunctional individual's life in order to overcome both homelessness and the stranglehold of addiction. Don's love of the Truth will surely bring morehonesty, acountability and integrity to the Santa Rosa City Council.

Personal responsibility is an essential aspect of returning to a manageable lifestyle, and Don teaches men how to embrace the truth. Don hopes to model and demand the same kind of personal responsibility on the Santa Rosa City Council, in order to bring more accountability to this arena.

BRIEFLY: Don currently resides in Rincon Valley with his lovely wife Dawn and youngest daughter Madison. Don and Dawn both serve our community in drug/alcohol rehabilitiation facilities, helping the homeless and are active in Santa Rosa's Autism support groups. Don's desire is to help Santa Rosa become a more family-friendly community of caring and informed voters by bringing accountability and transparency to Santa Rosa politics.

Born and raised in Sebastopol, Don moved to Santa Rosa 25 years ago. Formerly known on local radio as "The Loan Guy", Don is also an award-winning jingle writer, awarded the Sadie Award in 1996 for Northern California's best jingle with "The Berry's Market Boogie". Nowadays, fulltime employment comes from serving the homeless community and teaching men how to overcome addiction and broken lives. As Director of the 6th St. homeless shelter and New Life Recovery Program, Don loves helping people get back on their feet. As a RSBA member, Don keeps an open ear to the other RSBA members needs and frustrations and goes to any lengths to insure that the Railroad Square area is family and tourist friendly, even appointing paid staff as liasons to patrol the Depot Park area daily. Under Don's leadership, his staff helps to keep the RS Depot Park area safer and more secure for business owners, tourists and for Railroad Square customers.

Sonoma County Advisory Board Member

SoCo AODS BoardAppointed by First District Supervisor Valerie Brown, Don serves on the Sonoma County Advisory Board for Alcohol and Other Drug Services . Among many functions of the AODS board Don participates in the establishment of a planning process that develops collaborative short and long term goals and objectives for optimum alcohol and other drug service delivery for all segments of the community.

Actively helping men and women begin new lives in recovery since 1992, Don brings long-term, ongoing experience and a unique perspective to the Sonoma County AODS board and is grateful for the opportunity to serve all of the residents of Sonoma County in this way.
